4.In an effort to make filing easier the APMA form was created. It covers hardroock mining, suction dredging and placer mining. Open the APMA form and answer the questions below.

a).If you are operating a suction dredge what permit does the EPA require?

b). US Army Corp of Engineers(COE)may require authorization if miners are using suction dredges. When/why are you required to get authorization for COE?

c) Print page 14 of the PDF file (Scroll to) Statewide Bond Pool form (pg 14). Plan on a mine claim, number 4671, that covers 40 acres. Use the coordinates for Grizzly Bear Mine. ( Hint topozone.com was where you found Grizzly Bear Mine in lesson 2) Y. Fill out the form with the information you have. ( I realize you will need to make-up some of the information as you don't have all information but make it as realistic as possible.)

5.The article written by The National Academies, Action Needed to Improve Effectiveness of Laws That Govern Mineral Mining on Federal Lands, raised issues about the effectiveness of the regulations to protect the environment. Read the article and answer the questions.
