Prior Knowledge Required:  Reading level 6th 8grade/Ability to navigate internet sites.

Lesson Duration:  One to three lessons can be done in a 45 minute period.  ( There are 6 pathways with 6 careers under each one a choice of 36 different lessons.)

Overview: Students go to Bureau of Labor Statistics site for career

Materials/Resources:  Pencil/paper, computers with internet connection,  worksheet

 Vocabulary:  Career specific

Class Setting:  Student directed, number depending on available computers

Tasks:
1.Students go to Career Web Site. http://www.bls.gov/k12/html/edu_over.htm

 2.  Students choose from "Jobs for kids who like.Music/arts, math, science, P.E./Outdoors, Social Studies, or Reading.)

3. Students then choose one of the 6 careers described under their interest area.

4.  Students complete study sheet on their chosen career.
